| I’d never seen a plant stand like this. I guess I’d call it Victorian. Mostly it was just broken. |

| ABOVE---This is a photo taken after I removed the parts from a cardboard box. It initially looked like a box of loose twisted sticks. It had been repaired countless times with screws, nails, and any variety of glues. Parts were chipped out and some areas were missing. In addition, there was a certain amount of warpage to contend with. Some areas already glued up had to be re-broken to adjust the fit. | ||||||||

| ABOVE and IMMEDIATELY BELOW---My milling machine was indispensable in the repair as seen in the photo above and below. I milled out several bad sections and glued in new blocks for carving. The major problem was final assembly. A total of 6 screws, along with glue, is what put the piece back together, properly. There were quite a number of trial fit-up runs prior to final glue-up. The photographs do not capture the amount of detail work involved in reassembling this stand. | ||||||||

| SUMMARY---The piece was constructed in a variety of walnut. It stands approximately 55 inches tall; the diameter of the uppermost plate is 10-12 inches and the lower platform is 7-1/2 inches in diameter. The owner did not think it could be reconstructed. His exclamation upon seeing the finished product: “Oh my god!” | ||||||||
