3---The finial as first manufactured, with a point rather than a ball on top.
1---As it came to me. The clients recently moved from the UK. The grandfather clock arrived intact but the finial was lost in transit.  The clients had pictures of the clock, but the pictures did not include the finial. We started from scratch.
4---The clients wanted a ball. I like happy clients. A ball it is!
5---The new finial, matched in color to the original clock. It is 6 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter at its widest and is made from African Mahogany.
2---We sat at the kitchen table; they talked as I sketched and asked questions.  In my shop I made true-to-size cutouts of different finial possibilities, in paper. I then photographed the cutout models, in position, sitting on top of the clock, and emailed the options to my clients. They chose one and I proceeded with manufacture.
6---Finial and clockface, reunited.
